About the Author
Ever since I was young, I played school with my two sisters. We would read in different rooms of the house, I gave spelling tests, and I also gave them math problems to solve. Third grade is my absolute favorite grade to teach because my 3rd grade teacher had a lasting impact on me. I remember so much from that year.
I am a graduate of Hope College, where I received a B.A. in Special Education and Elementary Education. I then went on to obtain my master's degree from Grand Valley State University in Educational Technology. To continue learning about technology, I enrolled in a class at the OAISD (Ottawa Area Intermediate School District) called 21 Things for the 21st Century Educator. This class taught me many wonderful ways to incorporate technology into the classroom, including the creation of this website to use in my classroom for my students.
I began my teaching career at Eagle Crest back in 2002. My career began as a middle school special education teacher. I taught middle school for three years. Then an opening in third grade became available. I made the switch to third grade and have taught that ever since.
My family and I live on the north side of Holland. I am married to Mr. Schamper. We have 2 kids Logan (15) and Ashleigh (12). We also have 2 Bernese Mountain dogs Bailey and Kenzie, as well as a rabbit, and four fish. As a family we love to go camping, fishing, reading, and bike riding.
